Responsible For The Upvc Replacement Door Handles Budget? 12 Best Ways To Spend Your Money

UPVC Replacement Door Handles

As time passes the handles on your doors will get worn out and require replacement.  Repair My Windows And Doors  is important to be able to match the dimensions of the handles that were previously used when replacing them.

The top screw's position the lever, and the keyhole sizes are the three measurements that you need to determine. Refer to the size guide for assistance with this.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever/lever handle is a contemporary door handle designed to suit new or replacement doors. This type of handle is available in various styles and finishes. A number of manufacturers make this handle, including Avocet ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.

Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle

The handles of uPVC/Composite are constructed from robust materials, and are perfect for doors with multiple points that require a robust design. The handles are inline and use the same screws and spindle to secure them. They can be easily mounted on new or existing uPVC/Composite door.

The handle can be adjusted and angled to accommodate any user. The handle has been tested to 200,000 cycles. This will ensure the quality of the finish and performance of the handle over time. The sprung lever can also be cut to fit a wider range of locks. This is particularly useful in doors that are narrower, where the cylinder is situated further back in the door. A lever that is shorter is an excellent option for doors where the latch can be opened by a thumb turn located on the inside.

Lever Pad

A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc functions differently from lever-type handles that are found on the majority of doors. These handles can use a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side by using two offset or inline spindles (pad). They are generally employed on UPVC double glazed doors. They come in many variations & styles.

The handles have been tested to the minimum of 200,000 cycles and are available in several finishes, including White Silver, Chrome, & Gold. The finish is in line with BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, giving the handle a high degree of durability and performance for the intended use.

All UPVC levers for handles come with a spindle, screws and can be mounted on a uPVC door. The backplate fixing centers of 211mm allow for a wider handle, which can often be a benefit when replacing a damaged or worn multi-point door lock mechanism. The levers for these handles have springs, which can solve the problem of handles for doors that slide out of horizontal position when not in use.

When selecting the replacement UPVC handle and spindle it is crucial to match the dimensions of the PZ of the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC door. This measurement is often called the  handle centre or 'cylinder centres' and is a critical aspect to match the right handles.

After you have determined the correct PZ size it is important to ensure that the push and lever pads are shaped to match the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles that you need for your door. They are usually rectangular or round in shape, with an internal lever and external push pad.

The majority of the UPVC Lever Pads we offer are spring-loaded. This means that they return to a horizontal position after not being used instead of hanging, and possibly being stuck in the frame. This prevents draughts from entering the property. The majority of UPVC lever pad style handles come in both left and right handed versions which allows them to be put on either side of doors.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are typically found on uPVC doors, but can also be found on other types of door. They work by using a key that unlock a cylinder that will reveal pins that can be aligned to those inside the lock body, allow them to rotate the cam, thereby opening the door. Euro Cylinders are available with up to six pins. External and internal doors require different levels of security.

The selection of a cylinder is essential. It's dependent on the type of use your doors and handles will receive. External doors, for example, should be fitted with higher security cylinders, whereas doors inside can be secured with a standard cylinder. Additionally, certain cylinders have extra features that can improve security even more, like anti-drill or anti-bump properties.

A euro cylinder needs to be measured accurately to ensure it's the right size for your door. The cylinder must be measured from the central screw hole to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn if there is one. It is best to do this with the lock in place however if this is not feasible, you can take it off and remove it to measure. It is essential to not have a cylinder that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This can make it vulnerable to lock snapping attacks.

The majority of modern cylinders have been designed with anti-drill and bump resistance features built into their design. They are designed to decrease the risk of attack by forcing the cylinder to rotate in the opposite direction. This will help to prevent attacks and protect your doors.

Some cylinders are designed to resist snapping. This is a growing kind of attack on cylinders where the break line in the lock is smashed with a special tool to break the front of the cylinder and allow the door to be opened. This is a quicker and more convenient method of gaining access than a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the burglary which can hinder insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette is located inside the base plate of the door handle. It is a spring-loaded solution to return your multipoint lock handles back to their resting position after using. In the past, a lot of these types of handle did not have a spring integrated into them and without this they tend to droop or 'drop' once the locking mechanism is disengaged. This simple part is the best way to fix this problem. It also stops your door from getting stuck in either the closed or open position, as they are difficult to close manually.

These spring cassettes are specifically designed to be used with multipoint locks that are sprung but they won't work with multipoint handles that are not sprung and you will need to have a custom hole cut into the backplate to allow them to fit (please see image for technical diagram). These cassettes are a replacement for damaged or missing cassettes on the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are supplied in one unit. They feature a square cut out that accommodates an 8mm shaft.

These spring cassettes provide an excellent value solution to the problem of door handles that have become sagging. They are easy to fit and will increase the life span of your uPVC doors.
